I have "practice reeds" and "concert reeds", because there's no way I'm
going to use my Daphnis or Nielsen reed to practice scales (or for that
matter, play back-up in an All-Star Pops concert). Sure, they still have
to be good reeds to do those things, but one's reed use has to be
somewhat organized to do a concert or two a week and not go crazy.
