I just had my Selmer 10G overhauled about a month ago, and I was
delighted with the results until a about a week ago. I've been playing
jazz gigs and running into some trouble during the third set. Up to
then, the horn plays beautifully (not me, the horn), but during set three
I suddenly have trouble in the clarion register. I can trace the leak to
the upper joint, but that's the extent of my knowledge, because I can't
get more precise than that while I'm on the stand. After a lot of
pressing on keys and pads, the thing suddenly starts working again, and I
can play the last few tunes with confidence. When I take a close look at
the horn the next day, there's no leak. Any thoughts (or should I just
take it back to the shop)? (This message, as I re-read, sounds strangely
like a call to "Car Talk"). This doesn't happen when I practice, but,
then, I rarely have three sets' worth of practice time ...
