I have a SONY Dat Portable recorder (and am a clarinetist). I have had very
good luck with this machine.

Also, I know a recording engineer (he did the broadcasts for the Cleveland
Orchestra while George Szell was conductor) and he has been using the SONY
Portable DAT for his remote recording. (By the way, he is a magician with
sound).

I have no experience with the mini-disk recorder.
