Hmmmm, let's see? Basically I found that that so called "focus" just
seemed to wane, kind of like an old old clarinet. Also, the upper
register(upper left hand) became very thin, at least to my colleagues in
our quintet. When I brought out my older R13s my colleagues seemed much
happier. Well, for one thing I would buy a new clarinet every three
years if I could - and I did when they were only $300. It's just that
the Yamahas seemed to age very quickly. I do have a student with a very
fine Yamaha A clarinet that we got through a UPS auction for under $600
- new! They auction off unclaimed packages and there was this new
clarinet never claimed! Plays very well. Maybe it's just me. Good luck.
