About the subject of bands. I believe that the "golden age" of the American
concert band was during the first two decades of this century.
I am a music ed major, and intend to be a band director. I have wondered
about why concert bands are not featured more on the national, and local
media.
NPR, on its Performance Today, has been good to play music performed by
prominent professional wind ensembles, such as the military bands, and
the Dallas Wind Symphony among others.
I believe, we band people need to be patient, and seek to play quality
literature. Maybe we can have a rebirth of the greatness of the American
concert band.
