Here's a strong vote for carrying your clarinet with you on planes: DO
NOT CHECK YOUR INSTRUMENTS THROUGH! Years ago my tenor sax was sadly
mauled in the cargo section of a flght from Albany to Baltimore. NEVER
AGAIN! Cargo areas are subject to wild changes in pressure and
temperature, not to mention the damage caused by abrupt shifts in the
load. DON'T DO IT. Carry it!
