To all:

I just have to say how much more detailed and sophisticated this Klarinet
forum is in comparison to the one which is available on America Online. I've
only subscribed for two days and am very impressed with the level of
discourse which occurs on this billboard. Discussions on such topics as the
dangers of taking an instrument on a plane (beyond the possibility that it
might crash, in which case the condition of one's instrument would be of
little consequence to the owner, I imagine); or this book by Lee Gibson on
clarinet acoustics by which many of you are so fascinated; and so on. This
is all vital information and I'm glad to see such users as Dan Leeson (who I
think is personally acquainted with the likes of Don Carroll, Freelon
Bibbons, and Clark Fobes) contributing their years of knowledge and
experience to younger players such as myself. I'm given to understand that
Dave Breeden of SF Symphony was a protege of Gibson at North Texas State.

Who am I? I'm Neil Leupold. I've been playing for 15 years (just an
infant), play on a matched set of Buffet Prestige instruments, and am working
feverishly toward auditions for school in order to finish my undergraduate
degree -- hopefully at the University of Michigan with Fred Ormand or Debbie
Chodacki. I've been out of the music scene for the last couple of years due
to an extended illness in the family and am now opening my eyes again to any
and all musical stimuli available. My hope is that this forum, and all of
your messages and input on various subjects, will continue to feed my apetite
for relevant and useful information concerning every aspect of the clarinet.

My thanks in advance to all of you, and maybe I'll have something useful to
offer on this forum as I become more involved myself.

Neil.
