Thanks to those of you who suggested the duets by
Lees, Johnson, and Muczinski. My flutist friend and
I sight read them today during the noon hour. We didn't
get to the Bennett or the Villa-Lobos. Those will have
to wait until next week. They are certainly 20th century
music. None was a disappointment, however. I'm embarrassed
to say that at 55 I was surprised to discover that both parts
are written in the same key, but the accidentals take
care of the harmony. My friend, who is an undergraduate,
took it in her stride. She said that that is the way
"all" 20th century music is written. What a shock! I
thought that I'd have to transpose everything!
