The main danger in putting a clarinet in the hold is that of its being
exposed to traumatic climatic conditions. Things aren't so great in the
cabin either, but they will definitely be better than in the hold.

This is yet another subject that was discussed in great detail on this
list about a year ago. Although renewed discussion easily could result in
useful new input, perhaps those interested might want to get the ball
rolling by reviewing what has already been said and is kept available in
the list's archives for purposes exactly such as this.
