I go for long, long periods of time w/o playing bass cl, but I did play
one performance of "City of Angels" two weeks ago and was able
to borrow both a bass clarinet with low-Eb and bari sax with low-A,
both of which were new experiences for me. Kind of fun reading
a part I haven't played before during a performance on instruments
I've never played before. (can't really do that foot-in-the-bell trick on
a bass cl)

I was trying really hard not to play the bass clarinet like a sax, so I would
have appreciated the angled neck. Maybe I was misleading myself, but
I feel better on the bass when the mouthpiece is at an angle, although not
as much as the soprano. I prefer to use the stand instead of a strap.

After reading all this discussion, I'd really like to try the same clarinet with
several difft combos of mouthpiece and neck (angle).

(do you get the impression that Dan & I are both logged on at the
same time? ;-)
