Klarinet Archive - Posting 000428.txt from 1994/11

I used to collect music-related internet stuff, but I've stopped doing that
because
there are so many excellent indexes on the WEB. There is also a comprehensive
list of mail lists (still no saxophones, although even accordianists have their
own list).
There are also some excellent searching tools avail for anyone to use. Just in
the last
few months it has gotten much easier to use.
(thanks to many college projects -- go for it Lee).
I finally subscribed from home. For the $29/month that some people would rather
spend on
cable, I'm connected to the net 29 hours/month. I'm one of PSI's Interramp
Pioneers.
I'm guessing that most Klarinet subscribers don't have net access yet. If you
want info
on the service I use, send email to info@-----. Look into this if
you're looking
at America OnLine or CompuServe. By the end of the year, I predict that music
scholars
will be able to do a signficant amount of research on the net. Concert info is
already
available, and lots of music soundbytes are online too.
The St.Olaf's home page is really cool. I'm jealous that my Alma Mater, College
of Wooster,
isn't jacked-in yet, but my grandfather studied under F. Melius (Lake Wobegon,
MN, right?)
so I'm happy to see that St O's has done such a nice PR job.
