In high school, ved on I did without referring to
any recordings; I also rarely had access to an accompanist. Both of these
things I really regret now because they can only enhance your understansic.
Listening to a recording does not have to
force one into playing a piece a certain way; at least for me, I try to listen
take what I like from them. Live performances are
even better - I have learned so much by listening to Larry Combs play Mozart
or the clarinetists at my school in their recitals and classes.
