I can put in a good word for the revelation ligature. It provides the
best reed-mouthpiece seal I have ever seen. Whether it provides a
a "darker" or "brighter" sound, I can't guess, but I know I have never
felt more secure or comfortable than when using it. (I think quality of
sound has much more to do with you than with your equipment.) Make sure
when you order that you specify "revelation." As much as I like that BG,
the other two kinds I found quite terrible.
