I'm 5'10", playing a low C bass, and find that even I have to set the peg
so it's barely out. Funny thing is, my clarinet teacher also puts her
peg barely out, and she's, umm, only about 5'5" if that (I think). Seems
that no matter what my posture, I'll always have to set the peg out the
same length. There was a band festival here at St. Olaf today, and I got
sort of a kick looking at the bass/contra clarinet section. The CA
player discovered her peg after the 3rd of 4 pieces the festival band
played; too bad using her peg kicked the angle of her contra out about 25
deg. from perpendicular. The bass cl. sitting next to her was the same
way.
