Indeed, there are fine repairpersons in Seattle and you are fortunate
to live in a city which has qualified mechanics. I was not inferring
any other situation with respect to Seattle. However, for those not
as fortunate as yourself, you should not be negative about the opportunity
that shipping a clarinet provides to them. It is no big deal. People
ship instruments of great value all the time. And, properly scheduled,
it is no longer to do it by shipping than by taking it to a repairperson
who is local but very busy. Besides, by shipping, you have access to the
best people in America.
