O.K.here it is for what it's worth.
I too have wondered for years why some people disparaged humor and fun
in music. Mozart can be so joyous -- I recall once resisting the impulse
to skip about the stage while playing the rondo of the concerto. In fact,
I believe all musical performance is an effort to convey some emotion;
why should amusement or simple joy be forbidden? The music of Brahms can
certainly convey joy, fiery passion and pathos. I can think of some of
Brahms' works that are sombre; I don't know any Brahms that is dull.
Are there specific examples?
