Mitchell Lurie "Premium" are well worth using, it seems to me, though others on
this list have disagreed. They are definitely more consistent that the ordinary
(purple box) VanDoren things. Van Doren V12 are a considerable improvement on
both, though - they seem to offer more resistance than ML for a given
stiffness. They are made from thicker blanks, I believe. You will come across
all kinds of reeds and mouthpieces in the discussions on the list which are
hardly ever to be found over here, by the way ...
