Subj: Kristi's question on Grenadilla wood
Date: Tue, 8 Nov 1994 08:06:33 -0500

Kristi asks about grenadilla wood. She is new to the board.

Kristi, about a month or so ago, there was a lengthy discussion on
a TV show called "The Tree of Music" which dealt with that subject
in some detail. It spoke of 'mpingo" wood which is the African name
for grenadilla, and it showed the entire process of chopping the tree,
making blocks to be shipped to France, the voyage there, the making of
clarinets, and, most important, the problems of difficulty in
maintaining a large volume of high quality wood.

This will give you a chance to learn how to go into the archives of
KLARINET and get past issues of messages for reading.

Send a message to the LISTSERV of this list and read about getting
back issues. Don't be discouraged. Ask if you have any troubles.
Start with back issues around Sept. 1 and keep going forward one week
at a time until you find the material discussed. It was also discussed
about a year ago.

Glad to have you on the board, Kristi.
