You could try a Yamaha 52. It is a wooden clarinet, one step below the
YCL-72 (which is what I play), but I've seen several that my students
have, and I've been surprised by the quality of both the wood and the
keywork for a horn of its price. I don't have a good idea of the cost,
but it would be substantially less than the 72 at any big discount
instrument place.
