At the other end of the pay scale is the Eugene Symphony Orchestra, which
I think is a very good orchestra, for such a small, isolated city (roughly
160,000 in the metro area). They have a pretty short season, and it's
obviously not full-time work. Last year the rate was $44 per 2.5-hour
service, which works out to $2860 for the full season. The musicians are
asking for $52 per service and threatening to strike.
