I would describe the tonal quality as somewhat stuffy and unfocused. It does
seem to center itself somewhat in the upper register. The barrell that I would
reccommend that you try is either a moennig 66mm or 67mm. That's my preferred
barrell of choice(for the A clarinet) and the other one is made by a gentleman
by the name of Robert Scott. His number is (517)882-8098. He's located in
Michigan and my teacher, Elsa Verdehr, has worked on them with him quite a bit.
Try those, if you like, and see what you think.
