The glottis is that little flap towards the back of your throat which you
use to say things like "UH - oh!" A glottal trill is a sort of garlging
sound you make with that - a Parisian "r". So "flutter tounguing" with
this method actually doesn't involve the tongue at all.

The above-mentioned Robert Dick is the authority on such things on the
flute. There is a book on "The Avant-Garde Clarinet", but I don't reall
the author's name.
