Mike Cassara wrote about the glissando in the Copland Concerto.

When I did the Concerto I asked my teacher the same thing. He asked me
a question in return. "Can you slide it?" I took it to mean that if
I was able by recital time to slide that I should. If I could't, don't.
When I did play it, I had practiced it enough to do it.

Any other ideas out there? I decided that the Concerto had elements
of the jazz idiom to warrant the slide.

By the way, I run into the same problem with a small gliss in the
second movmt of the Bernstein Sonata. I havn't practiced the technique
in a while. It's harder than I remember.
