For clarinet players in the Southern California area, there is
going to be a premiere performance of the Ted Stern arrangement of
Ponchielli's "Il Convegno" for two clarinets and string orchestra on
Sunday, November 6, 1994 at Glendale College at 4:00 pm. Ed Donohue and I
will be the soloists.

Originally scored for clarinets with concert-band accompaniment,
the piece has been performed in recent years mostly with a piano
reduction of the accompaniment. In the forthcoming performance, the
accompaniment has been arranged for string orchestra by Dr. Ted
Stern, Director of the Glendale College Community Orchestra and
Chairman of the School's Music Department.
