is that people are most tolerant of each other's point of view. There are
never any serious flames, only an occasionally misunderstanding. Every single
person who submits to this board should be treated respectfully, and their
ideas given a fair hearing. Disagreement alone does not constitute
disrespect. My ideas are often strongly disagreed with, but I don't
remember a time when someone, anyone, tried to poke my eye out. I try
equally hard to disagree without indicating or even inferring that the other
person's point of view is worthless.

But it is very easy, in writing a note, to forget that it will go to several
hundred people. And, in so forgetting, occasionally some cross words will
go out over the waves.

But if this board should ever get tempermentally equivalent to the notes that
go out in rec.musical.classical, where considerable insults are commonplace,
then I will be the first casualty.

It is tough enough to play clarinet and live with the crap one gets in an
orchestra without having to put up with it during play time. I urge those
who have begun posting messages that are smoldering at the edges to
consider how pleasant it is on this board and to make every effort to try
and keep it this way.

Thanks, friends.
