Hello,
My name is Mike Cassara. I live in Cleveland and am in 8th grade and have
played clarinet (seriously) for about 2 years. I really got into it when,
about two years ago, I saw the Benny Goodman story on television. Before I
knew it, the clarinet was my entire life. I played, listened, transcribed,
played, and then started taking lessons. I have to say that I love my horn.
After a while I discovered bop and modern jazz, forcing me to buy a tenor
sax, but I still love my clarinet and the music (both classical and jazz)
played on it. Right now I'm really into Eddie Daniels and Buddy deFranco. I
have a big audition in a few weeks where I'm playing Charlie Parker's "Donna
Lee".
I'm also working on the Mozart and Copland Concertos for a contest.
The Mozart I know. The Copland I'm working on. It's difficult but I know
I'm going to have to learn it eventually.
Well I was really happy to find this group through the computer.
Mike Cassara
By the way, Mr. Leeson and others, I have enjoyed the commentary on the
evolution of the basset horn, it's interesting stuff.
