To the Pro's:

I am a high school student who has been playing a little over 8 years. I
have been first chair almost forever (until recently). I never ever
thought of becoming a musician as a profession.Recently, when I wake up in
the morning, all I want to do is play clarinet. Nowadays, I dream about
becoming a pro.

What is the competition like in this job market? What does an average
'pro' make annually (How much do symphonies and other stuff pay)? What
other jobs are there with the clarinet? How stable is it?

I am pretty much a studious person (4.0(yes, I do have a life)). I think
my parents would be happier if I pursued Engineering or a Naval Officer
(things I also might want to do). I really love playing the clarinet,
and I want to spend my short time on this planet doing something I love
doing.

Regards.
