Chris,

I am a first year master's student at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of
Music (what a mouthful ;-) and I play on an old Selmer HS* (refaced by
Richard Hawkins). I don't think the new HS* mouthpieces are very good; they
don't seem very consistent and play rather high in pitch.

Because the facing is "stamped" onto the mouthpiece instead of applied by
hand, the Rico mouthpieces are consistent, but I wouldn't recommend them for
any serious work. They are great for marching band, but little else. IMHO,
they tend to sound rather brittle.
