Dear Chris.

I finally got first chair for the first time my junior year of high
school (from the clarinet goddess who was a year ahead of me and who had
been playing for two years more than I had), only to lose it three months
later. It was the first challenge I had lost. I understand how you feel.
My advice is to keep your competition healthy and let your love of music
and the clarinet guide you. I have read the advice given by other people in
the group, and I agree with what they say, too. Best of luck!
