Dear Chris,

Solo de Concours by Rabaud would be a good piece. I don't know it,
but my sister (also a clarinetist) is playing it, and she and my parents
both think it is a fabulous competition piece because it is very showy.
Weber's Concertino is a very good piece, too. Anything by Weber is good for
competition because his music is flashy. The Saint-Saens Sonata would be
good, depending on how much time you have. If you choose that one, you
might want to play the last movement. Also, depending on how ambitious you
are, you might want to read the Poulenc sonata.
Best of luck at your competition!

Sincerely,

Lindsay Williams, clarinetist
