Chris,

May I suggest "Canzonetta" by Gabriel Pierne? The piece is
scored for clarinet and piano, and the singer, in this case,
is the clarinet.

The edition I have is part of a collection of contest solos
entitled, "Sixteen Grands Solos de Concert for Clarinet and Piano,"
published by Southern Music Company.

Canzonetta is one of my favorite short solos, and, if you're
unfamiliar with it, you might be pleasantly surprised.
