Subj: What kind of horn do I have??

Hi Everybody,

Well, with a sudden surge of new-comers to the list, I thought I'd step
into the spotlight for a second myself. I am 17 years old, and a junior
in high school. I sit first chair in my high school concert band.

I'm sure somebody here can shed some light on this subject for me. My
first clarinet was an old Normandy student horn that had previously
belonged to my aunt. In fact, that was why I started playing the
instrument, a cheap (well, free) readily available instrument. It got me
through 4th grade all the way up until after my freshman year of high school.

Two summers ago, my director found a horn in good condition at a pawn
shop somewhere in eastern Iowa. I was told that the horn was in good
condition, and was quite a deal. Well, we purchased it for $375, and had
it repadded, cleaned, the works.

Well, what I'm wondering is what kind of horn is this? It's a Leblanc
with a serial number of 57166. 1/2 inch above the A-G# key mechanism on
the upper section of the clarinet is an "L" with the number 300 "in" it.
It looks something like this:

|300
----

well, sort of! :) Above that is a Leblanc emblem.

Anybody know what I've got here?
