I used to play a Pomerico 45 (modelled I think on the Vandoren B45).
It was certainly very nice. However, after some problems I was having
playing sharp I changed to a Selmer C85 120 and didn't miss the
Pomerico at all. I have heard various theories about crystal
mouthpieces including the (ridiculous in my view) notion that all
people playing on crystal mouthpieces sound the same. Personally I
think there's nothing special about the material crystal mouthpieces
are made of, but perhaps it's possible to make them to higher
specifications.
