I bought an Eddie Daniels mouthpiece a year ago and I'm pretty happy
with it. I'm not sure how it measures up dimensionaly compared to
other mouthpieces: I measured it as about middle of the road for
opening with a fairly long face. Mark Walton reckoned it was more open
than normal. The outside back slopes away quite gradually and the body
seems to be fairly thin.

One advantage I have found with it is that playing on my A has become
easier. I have a pretty stuffy A clarinet and it was aways a chore
until I got my Eddie Daniels.

I have no trouble bending notes with it (I'm playing Fiddler on the
Roof at the moment) and it allows for a lot of expression. But I find
I have to be very careful with intonation in classical work. If I take
my mind off it, I can end up with a bum note. But with a strong enough
reed, I don't find I have problems.

I use moderately hard reeds (slightly shaved V12 strength 4's) with
it.

Talking to Mark Walton about mouthpeices, he mentioned a crystal one
he saw in France many moons ago. He immediately knew it was the best
he would ever see and naturally wanted the owner to part with it. He
asked, "How much do you want for the mouthpiece?" and the guy replied,
"Two dollars more than you can afford." Ha ha.
