It looks like Dan Leeson's comments will generate quite a few of these
introductions from those of us who have been lurking. Thanks for the prompt,
Dan.
My name is Don Kane, despite what my return address says( I get my non-w
ork
related mail on a test account). I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area ( live in
San Mateo, dayjob in Mountain view), and have benn plaiy Clarinet for 37
years. In the middle '60's while I was playing in the Air Force Band
(Hamilton AFB Field Band) I took up the Bass Guitar, and after getting out of
the service most of my work was as a Bass player, with Clarinet as an
occasional double along with as little Sax as I could get away with. In the
mid 70's I formed my own band allowing me to play a lot more Clarinet than
before. After several years of playing clubs, mostly Hotels, my group started
doing private parties, Country Clubs, that sort of thing. We play a wide
variety of music, allowing me to play Clarinet on the cocktail jazz and 30's
and 40's swing, and Bass and Guitar on the rock and country stuff we do.
In the past 5 years I've also had the opportunity to play some Classical
pieces at my church a couple times a year, which is a real treat and
challenge for me after being away from Classical music for so long.
I played a Buffet that I purchaed used in 1962 until it stolen about 5 y
ears
ago, and now play a Yamaha 72.
I love reading this list thank you all for the resource.
