Alan Hacker uses basset clarinets which don't have the box-like joint as
would an F basset horn. His B-flat and A bassets are early 19th-C
English clarinets with straight basset extensions made by Brian
Ackerman. Photos are included in his recording of the Mozart Quintets
Amon Ra CD-SAR 17 - though I believe it's available on MHS as well).
