It seems that the parts in this opera ?) referred to as "clarinette d'amour"
parts in D in this list were actually indicated as being for "Tailles d'amour".
"Taille" was a common eighteenth-century French term for the <straight> tenor
oboe in F. Given that the oboe d'amore is pitched a minor third below the oboe,
and the clarinette d'amour was (typically) a minor third below the B flat
clarinet, the likely nature of the "taille d'amour" in D should be obvious.
However, there is always the possibility that actual intruments are going to
turn up which confute this hypothesis.
