As it's name implies, resonators "resonate" the sound outward from the body
of a sax or clarinet. Different materials resonate differently. The plastic
resonators which come standard on the Selmer saxophones are not as bright, or
brilliant, as the "crinkle-cut" resonators, made of aluminum, which seem to
be most popular among saxophonists, at least in Los Angeles.
