I know that this topic has been beaten to death, but I had to respond. I'm
sorry if I sounded like a superficial "go-with-the-flow" player in my last
letter. In my experience, the wood clarinets are better than the plastic
ones. I wasn't saying that ALL Bundys are junk. The one I had happened not
to be one of the best. So, yes, I felt I needed a 'good' one. And, belive
me, I don't want to have to buy a new clarinet (mouthpiece, barrel, etc.)
unless I absolutely need it, because I'm not exactly rich. I wanted a good,
solid instrument that would last me through college. I got one. (And, yes,
it happens to be a Buffet, but that is another, long, Christmas story!)
So, Mr. Leeson, please don't think that all of us young clarinetists must
get the right brand name in order to "belong."
