Though I've never had to deal with violet wood, I assume it should
be treated like any other absorbent wood. I've waxed the bore of
many oboes and clarinets (and bassoons) to seal them. This might be
an alternative to oiling violet wood daily.

Also, where and what does violet wood come from?

Regarding Nielson, Nielssen ... I think we're talking about Carl
Nielsen of Op. 57 ?
