Hello!
I'm a freshman liberal arts/pre-med major at UT Austin with a passion for
music. With regard to mouthpieces, I've been using the Combs LC3
mouthpiece for the past year or so. Someone had mentioned the fact that
the facing has been changed, and that piqued my interest. I just had my
Combs mouthpiece adjusted by Richard Hawkins a few weeks ago, and now,
register slurs come much easier than they used to--no subtones or
interference--very clean breaks. Apparently, the Combs mthpc. wasn't up
to par the way it was, and having it adjusted by Mr. Hawkins did
wonders. So, if anybody wanted to know about the status of Combs
mouthpieces, there it is. As for ligatures, I had been using an inverted
Bonade for the past several years. However, my new teacher here at UT
suggested that I use a regular univerted Bonade, for the way that these
regular ligatures are structured allows the reed to vibrate better (I
think).

I absolutely love the Klarinet Network--thanks to the people who made it
possible!
