Pauline, there is no way to contrast the preparation of a part done
by a computer with one done by hand. One can advertise the advantages
of the former over the latter for at least 10 minutes. Here are a few
of them:
1. Any mistakes in the computer prepared part (because the inputter
made an error in clef, key signature, note, etc.) are immediately correctable
and the part reprint again and again until it is perfect.
2. It is faster to do it by computer.
3. It is neater to do it by computer.
4. You can transpose it to any key or clef that has value.
5. You may add neatly done cues in smaller print that are not in the
original and they print magnificently.
It is also true that what you say about some advantages of doing it by
hand are worthwhile, but they pale when contrasted to the enormous
advantage of a machine.
