I too have used Finale for part transposition, in addition to all my
composing and arranging. Fall orchestra tour (we leave a week from Friday!)
brought with it my first experience with bass in A (and in Bb) on
Moussorgsky/Ravel "Pictures at an Exhibition". I took one look at
Goldenberg und Schmuyle (sp) and immediately started transposing that
movement. Some of the slower, less complex movements I just wrote the
Bb notename above the printed note. I'm getting better at the A-to-Bb
transposing at sight, but still can work at it. For now, though, I'll
transpose any A bass parts on Finale. Doesn't take much time for me, and
looks much better than my manuscript =)
