I personally consider it a tremendous waste of money to have finale if all
you really do with it is transpose parts for yourself. One could just sit
down and write out the part into whatever key and clef combination you
wanted. Transposng the part will do somethimg for your mind, it will
improve or help establish your transposition skills while letting finale
do it for you doesn't do anything except give you an excuse to play on the
computer for a couple hours. Musical mental vegetables. Not much fun, but
it is good for you.
If you are writing out parts for an ensemble or a score to send to a
publisher I definitely see where one could benefit from using computer
manuscript programs.
Ideally one should be able transpose these parts at sight, but that's
hard to do! I sympathise completely.
