As a jazz player, I've been doing octave glisses for years, and, when
this question appeared on the list I realized that I don't really know
how I do it, and I certainly can't remember how I learned. The responses
have been really interesting! I think a combination of some relaxation
of the embouchure and some sliding of the fingers is the way I do it.
For the Gershwin-Rhapsody gliss, I do a chromatic scale up to C-clarion
and then lip-gliss the rest of the way. Good luck!
