Roger,

Chrome is slicker than nickel. As far as equipment/aesthetics
making a difference in playing (at least psychologically), I haven't
a clue as to why. Though I'd feel better driving a Benz than a Yugo!

I see you're point, however, gold plating the keys won't make one
play in tune.
