I've found borrowed clarinets with silver-plated keys far too slippery. Even
the nickel plated keys of my A were hard to get used to compared with the
plain German silver of my ancient Buffet B flat.
Re the chap with the gold-plated oboe keys: this didn't seem to be just a mater
of slipperiness - his intonation was not as good. This has to be psychological,
surely - but WHY?
Isn't chrome plate even more slippery than silver?
