Yep, the concept is really yukko. Consider what the inside of
a clarinet would look like if you've just eaten a bowl of Corn
Flakes.

Of course, out of respect for the instrument I would never do
such a thing, but I've seen other professionals down a slice of
pizza during a break, and then pick up their instruments. Makes
you kind of glad that instruments are NOT transparent!

This all brings to mind a book I read about thirty years ago:
Horns Strings & Harmony, by Arthur Benade (Anchor Books - Science
Study Series, 1960 - no ISBN). The book is on elementary acoustics, at
the high school level - only simple mathematics. It has a chapter on
making your own clarinet and flute out a tube of clear plastic. It's on
the level of a school science project, including making the keyworks out
of bits of tin cans and paper clips, with rubber bands for springs. It
has photos of the completed projects.
