Allow me to re-phrase. By "composite" clarinet, I refer to
clarinets made of wood and glue, not hard rubber or plastic (the
Vito clarinet is some form of plastic). A "glue" clarinet will
sound dead. The Vito clarinet is anything but dead sounding.

Regarding the hide glue, it is water soluble as mentioned. Hide
glue is used in stringed instruments for it vibrating properties.
Unfortunately, hide glue cannot be used in "composite" clarinet
manufacture because it is not water-proof
