Roel is fortunate to live in the city of Europe that houses not only the
finest collection of Harmoniemusik anywhere in the world, but is also home
to a city that plays a lot of it too. There is a hornist (whose name
completely escapes me) in Amsterdam who I had the pleasure of meeting on
one of my visits there who is absolutely the worlds greatest collector
of Harmoniemusik. It was he who discovered the single surviving printed
copy of the Beethoven 7.

Roel also reminds me that the DG harmoniemusik arrangement is by
Triebensee and not Wendt. Probably he is more correct than I. Whenever
I don't remember who did a Harmonie arrangement, I always say Wendt
and am about 80% sure that I am correct. This is because Wendt did most
of the Harmonie arrangements in Vienna for a long time. But in this case,
I was wrong.

Roel, are you aware of Bastiaan Blomhert (of the Hague) who discovered the
Harmonie of Abduction from the Harem in Germany about 10 years ago, did
his doctoral dissertation on it, and has now recorded it?
